Well, here we are, in the future. It really doesn't look anything like I expected, there's a serious lack of flying cars and robot servants, but hey at least we have iPhones!
2010 started off with ZPZ playing on the Jam Cruise, which was exactly what it sounds like, a whole bunch of jam bands and their fans on a giant cruise ship traveling through the Caribbean sea. It was really fun, especially to hang out with and see many of my favorite musicians like bass legend George Porter Jr., sax players Skerik and Jeff Coffin, the amazingly tight reggae band John Brown's Body and many, many others. Every time we play for "jam crowds" I get the impression that many of the audience members have never heard anything like Zappa music before, and it's always fun seeing their reactions when we do funny songs like "Broken Hearts Are For Assholes" or exceedingly technical ones like "Don't You Ever Wash That Thing."
Now we're back on the bus, doing a short run in the south and east USA, and then home in time for several Gryphon Labs gigs:
1/22/10 12 midnight @ Paladino's, Tarzana, CA
2/11/10 9:30 pm @ The Good Hurt, Venice, CA
2/17/10 9 pm @ The Baked Potato, Studio City, CA
So, Happy New Year, and I hope to see you at a show!

Jam Cruise 8 was amazing to say the least... I will probably be sailing on that boat again next year! Thanks for the apple with Pete part 2 on one of those nights! I enjoyed it! I will be seeing you again at Wakarusa in June! Long live the Zappa and see you guys this summer! (or maybe sooner if you guys come to Dallas!)
